Dorset Humanists brings people together to consider how to live good lives — honestly, thoughtfully, and in the company of others. We create space for open-minded conversations, shared experiences, and mutual support, where people can reflect on what matters, learn from one another, and build a sense of connection in a non-religious setting. Our activities include:
- Humanist Café at Moordown Community Centre — coffee, cake and conversation on relatable themes such as relationships and wellbeing
- Humanist Forum at Bournemouth Westcliff Hotel — gently guided discussions on topical subjects such as human rights, crime and punishment, and free speech
- Plus pub socials, walks, coffee mornings, shared meals, barbecues, garden parties, etc
- We have over 200 members, and many more occasional visitors, but typically our events attract about 20-40 people — just right for meeting and getting to know people
- You don't have to join to come along but — just so you know — our members mostly think of themselves as humanist, atheist, agnostic, non-religious, ex-Christian, ex-Muslim, ex-Jehovah's Witness etc. But we like to make friends with people who have different beliefs and everyone is made welcome.
If you would like to know more about us and what we do, have a browse through the pages of this website and/or come along to one of our Events or Activities.
You can also look for Dorset Humanists on Meetup where all of our activities are advertised.
